Good bible translation?

a friend of mine was telling me about a bible translation that is more on par with what the original language/manuscripts said than the king james version (kjv & nkjv) can anyone tell me the name of it? and the niv and nlt are both even worse than the kjv so please none of that. if you dont have good input stay out of the thread
