Why does God Approve of Slavery?
I think it had a different meaning in Bible times. Like when I go to work I am a slave to my boss but these days because of people going overboard, mistreating their employees and being evil to them it is now a derogatory word in a sense. It is NOT ok to have slaves in the way American Indians, African Americans and Jews were BUT in the EMPLOYMENT aspect THAT is what the Bible is meaning. Relatives help each other out in their home, on their land, they work together. Relatives are not paid employees. That is why it states "but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way." Because here He is speaking to the Israelites. Paid employees who aren't related to you were or are slaves. Not the kind we assume slave means today. I hope that helps.
